2008 Accomplishments Snowflake

In the lifetime of the child born today, 20-30% of the world's plant and animal species will be on the brink of extinction because of global warming. As America's largest conservation organization, National Wildlife Federation has led the way in bringing attention to the impacts of global warming on our natural world. The choices Americans make to protect wildlife for future generations will help create a world that will be healthier and safer for people too.

Our work to confront global warming, protect and restore wildlife and habitat, and reconnect people with nature requires that we engage diverse communities and organizations all across America - from community to community, from coast to coast. Here is just a sampling of our 2008 accomplishments.

Confronting Global Warming

  • National Wildlife Federation was instrumental in bringing the most comprehensive global warming legislation to a vote in the U.S. Senate. Enacting federal legislation that will reduce global warming pollution is essential to protecting wildlife for future generations. This bill included an historic level of dedicated funding to protect and restore America’s natural resources in the face of climate change.
