What is the purpose of the 2013 Green Inaugural Ball?

This event is a celebration of the past four years of accomplishment on the environment, energy, and clean technology and a look forward to another four years of progress. The Green Ball brings together top leaders from the environmental, conservation, clean tech, and renewable energy communities. A complete list of the Host Committee can be found here.

What were the highlights of the 2009 Green Inaugural Ball?

In 2009, the Green Inaugural Ball was held at the National Portrait Gallery in Washington, DC. Former Vice President Gore, will.i.am, Maroon 5, John Legend, John Cusack, Melissa Etheridge, Michael Franti, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, and top environmental, conservation, and business leaders attended the star-studded event.

What will the event be like?

The Green Ball will feature live music and stars to entertain all with great celebrity hosts. We will have open bar and heavy appetizers available for guests to enjoy with access to Newseum exhibits and select films throughout the night.

VIP tickets provide event-goers with star-treatment on a special Green Carpet entrance with photo opportunities and access to exclusive Newseum exhibits, a private cocktail lounge, terrace, and stage-facing balcony while mingling with celebrities, CEOs, journalists, members of Congress, and senior administration officials. Where is the venue?

The event will be held at the Newseum at 555 Pennsylvania Avenue NW, Washington, DC 20001. Newseum and its great interactive displays will be open to explore, with exhibits featuring The First Amendment Gallery, Bloomberg Internet, Radio, & TV Gallery, The Berlin Wall, The 9/11 Gallery, and a limited-time exhibit on Presidential Campaigns & the Press.

How do I get to the venue?

All guests are encouraged to arrive via Metro (open until midnight). Archives/ Navy Memorial-Penn Quarter Station, via the Yellow and Green Lines, is just one block away and Judiciary Square Station, via the Red Line, is two blocks away. There are parking garages across the street from the Newseum on 6th St, NW and valet parking will be available for $20.

Will there be any entertainment?

Yes. The confirmed talent list is available on the home page. Entertainment will be provided by will.i.am, Trombone Shorty, Onree Gill, Camp Freddy, Nicholas David, Sheila E., Mayer Hawthorne, Paul Winter and DJ Neville C.

Will any celebrities attend the event?

VIP Celebrities confirmed to attend the event include: Redskins players Darryl Green, Lorenzo Alexander, Chris Wilson, Kedric Golston, Antwaan Randle El, and Derrick Dockery; Comedian and Political Commentator Stephanie Miller; The West Wing’s Melissa Fitzgerald; Les (Survivorman) Stroud & Gina Gershon; Celebrity couple Nicole Ari Parker and Boris Kodjoe; Comedian and Actor Wayne Brady; Actor and Director Tate Donovan, and Race Car Driver Leilani Munter.

What time does the 2013 Green Inaugural Ball begin?

VIP doors open at 7pm for VIP Ticket holders only through the 6th Street entrance. Doors open at 8pm for General Admission Ticket holders through the C Street entrance.
Traffic in Washington, DC will be heavy during Inaugural weekend so please plan accordingly.

How do I receive my tickets?

There will be no will-call at the event.
Tickets will be available for pick-up in Washington, DC January 16th – January 18th. Please fill out this form for information regarding ticket pick-up.

What is the dress code?

Dress code is black tie.
