In the Midwest, there are 2 main networks that our Campus Ecology team works with: The Chicagoland Network for Sustainability in Higher Education (CNSHE) and The Upper Midwest Association for Campus Sustainability (UMACS)
The CNSHE network meets quarterly and is comprised of 15 Chicagoland higher education institutions. We have been working together since 2009 with the goal of accelerating climate action and campus sustainability efforts in a city environment. Our most recent focus has been on local, sustainable food.
- The Upper Midwest Association for Campus Sustainability (UMACS) is a network of schools that came together in 2006 to help with the sharing of information and resources. Since its inception, there have been 5 conferences and smaller regional themed workshops. These workshops have focused on climate action planning and sustainability across the curriculum.
