Make a Tree Journal

In your nature journal or a notebook make a page about the tree you climb. Draw a picture or take a photo to help capture the memory. For fun, why not give your tree a name? Answer the following questions about your tree:

  • How tall is it? (Taller than the house or not?)
  • Do I know what kind of tree it is?
  • How wide is it? (How far around my tree can I get my arms? Hey, how long are my arms, anyway?!)
  • What does the bark feel like? Look like?
  • Does it have leaves or needles?
  • Where is it? (Front yard, backyard, near the fence, or close to the house?)
  • Does anything make its home there?
  • Can I see any of the roots? What do they look like?
  • Will it give me shade this summer?
