Observe the Moon

Crescent Moon

Be nocturnal, like those flying squirrels! Explore the wonders of the moon with your children by having a few "night" Green Hours.

Once outside, ask them:

  • Where is the moon is the sky? (High, low, nowhere to be seen?)
  • What color does it appear to be? (White, orange, yellow – or some other color?)
  • What size and shape? (Does it look like a fingernail, a piece of cheese, or some other shape?)

Do this a few times over the course of a month, and observe together as the moon makes its journey around the earth.
