Climate and Energy

Power plant

The National Wildlife Federation's top priority is to secure national and international agreements that cap global warming pollution. We are investing in efforts that will transition our energy economy to one that is premised on using energy more efficiently; developing and using clean, renewable energy; and eliminating the market for dirty fuels.

Progress on Policy Goal

In June 2009, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the American Clean Energy and Security Act, which will reduce emissions and has provisions to safeguard wildlife. A counterpart bill, the Clean Energy Jobs and American Power Act, is now moving through the Senate.
