Objectives

  • To develop students' understanding of the water cycle.
  • To emphasize that water is essential for all living things.
  • To explore the concept of water distribution around the world and how the availability of clean water affects people's quality of life.
  • To quantify the school's water use.
  • To identify ways to conserve water at school.
  • To put water conservation measures into practice wherever possible.

 

Learning Outcomes

Through the Water Pathway, students will:

  • Understand that the world's supply of fresh water is finite.
  • Consider the global implications of fresh water use and discuss solutions to water scarcity.
  • Carry out a water audit of the school.
  • Discover ways to conserve water in their own lives, at home and at school.
  • Collect, interpret, and present information.
  • Communicate about strategies to improve water conservation to a variety of audiences, including other students, parents and the local community.
  • Work cooperatively with others.
