The Discovery Bay Community Campout is now in its 4th year, and had 1,000 campers register in the first two days of registration! Campers will enjoy a live, interactive wildlife show, flashlight scavenger hunt, climbing wall, ropes and obstacle courses, star gazing, nature spotting games, and we will all party down with Disney!
The entire event is completely free, including barbecue dinner and pancake breakfast, night safety flashing light wands, and lots of other fun giveaways!
If you've never camped before, the Discovery Bay Community Campout is for you. We took the challenges of camping away. Don't worry about preparing meals, and the boy scouts will even help you set up your tent. Or, sleep under the stars, it's sure to be a beautiful night.

Campapalooza: A musical celebration of the Great American Backyard Campout full of Grooves, Grub and Good Times. Join in the fun of our Grooves and Grub celebration. As the music dies down, get ready for the night time adventure to begin. We’ll fire up the campfire ring and head off into the darkness for a special early summer night hike experience. Upon our return we’ll be sure to fill our bellies with some fireside S’mores before dozing off to sleep. Ever wanted to experience primitive camping? Not sure you know what to bring? Is it for you? Well, here is your chance to learn what it takes to become a primitive camper, but with some help. False Cape State Park will be participating in the Great American Backyard Campout. Reserve your space and learn valuable tips on backpack camping, how to plan a trip, and being prepared. For this statewide special program, come learn about campfire construction techniques at our newly constructed fire pit. We'll provide S'mores and marshmallows to roast too. Camp out with America at Hungry Mother State Park! Join us for a free night of group camping. Everyone welcome, even beginners. You must have your own camping supplies, food, and drinks. Camp out will start at 11:00 a.m. with a demonstration on how to set up a proper campsite and Leave No Trace. After the discussion, everyone will pick a site and set up. Activities will be planned all day long.

In recognition of the Great American Backyard Campout, we are having a special event specifically for first time campers! If you have been interested in learning about this wonderful pastime, then today is your day to try! We will have either Boy Scouts or Girl Scouts on hand to help you set up if you like, and there will be park staff and volunteers available to answer your questions. We have set aside the Group Campsite that night for those of you that wish to try their hand camping with us here at the park! After dark, we will have a campfire, roast marshmallows, and tell stories. We do have limited space available, so you will need to call the park in advance to reserve a spot for this event.
Are you a little tangled? Come learn some helpful camping and fishing knots at the fishing pier gazebo at 2 p.m. What is more relaxing than sitting around a campfire after a day of exploring? Join us for stories and music at 8 p.m. at the campground amphitheater. Also, learn how to roast a marshmallow. You will quickly find out if you enjoy it completely burned.
Do you and your family enjoy camping or just relaxing in the great outdoors? Or maybe you've never stepped foot in a tent. We've got fun for every skill level. Check out our programs that will expand your skills and make your next trip to the woods even more fun. Learn to start your campfire without any matches using our flint and steel or tackle our Orienteering Course while discovering how to navigate by compass and win a prize! New River Trail State will bring you the Greatest American Back Yard Campout ever! Feel free to bring your fishing poles, pack a lunch, and be ready to have a ton of fun! We will start this adventure by biking along the New River Trail to Austinsville. Once in Austinsville we will stop for lunch and then hop in kayaks and paddle back to Foster Falls We will be making stops along the way to do studies in macro invertebrates, bird watching, and survival skills! We couldn't just stop there; once we arrive back at Foster Falls we are camping out on Baker Island, where we will test our primitive skills. No campout would be complete without campfire cooking, owl prowls, campfire stories, and yes S'mores!

The Pinedale Aquatic Center and the Town of Pinedale are joining together to host the first ever Pinedale community wide campout. Bring your tents for a night of fun as we celebrate the outdoors while camping in Boyd Skinner Park (Burzlander addition). Bring a side dish or dessert to share for our pot-luck dinner. Enjoy a visit from Smokey the Bear, explore the natural habitat around Pine Creek, and enjoy some camp fire songs, stories and s'mores.
