Can I be a part of the Great American Backyard Campout if I'm not camping on June 28th?
Absolutely! We want you to experience your camping adventure whenever it is convenient for you. Just be sure to sign the pledge by June 28, 2014 so your Campout gets counted as part of this year's official Great American Backyard Campout.

How can I host a public camping event?
When signing the Campout pledge, make sure to indicate that your event is open to the  “public”. If you'd like to list your public event here, email campout@nwf.org. To download the instructional guide to hosting a public event, click here. To get started planning your Campout event, click here.

How do I join a public Campout event?
You can either register online in the link provided or email the contact person listed under event details for more information. Click here for a list of public events.

What if I do not have a computer to sign the pledge?
If you have a mobile phone, you can sign the pledge by texting CAMPOUT to 30644 (your standard message/data rates will apply).

What if I'm not sure how many people will join my Campout?
We encourage all campers to sign the pledge individually, but you can estimate how many people will attend your Campout when you sign the pledge.

Why does registration for the 2014 Campout look different than in past years?
For those who have participated in the Great American Backyard Campout in the past, you’ll notice there’s no longer a “registration” process. We have eliminated the prior method for registration and the “Participant Center.” This means you will not be required to log in to register, but can simply “register” your participation in this year’s Campout by signing the Pledge to Camp. This will also eliminate the ability to look up existing Campouts by team name or location.  See below for information regarding public Campouts in your area.

Am I supposed to raise funds for this event?
Great American Backyard Campout is no longer a peer-to-peer fundraising event, but if you would still like to collect donations at your Campout, you can mail checks (payable to National Wildlife Federation) to National Wildlife Federation, c/o Great American Backyard Campout, 11100 Wildlife Center Drive., Reston, VA 20190 or submit donations online.

How can I find a public Campout event near me?
You can find a list of Great American Backyard Campout events that are open to the public here. Check back periodically as this page will update as we collect more information from public events.

What is the $400,000 match challenge?
In support of our goal to get 200,000 people to pledge to camp in 2014, National Wildlife Federation's Board of Directors and other friends will donate $2 for every person that participates in this year’s Campout – up to $400,000!

If you have any questions, please email us at campout@nwf.org or call 1-800-822-9919 between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, Eastern Time.
