In Virginia, the Greenforce Initiative is working with community colleges in the Northern, Shenandoah and Chesapeake regions; and collaborating with the Virginia Community College System and the Shenandoah Valley Workforce Investment Board. The Shenandoah Valley Workforce Investment Board is the managing organization for the Shenandoah Valley Energy Partnership (SVEP), a partnership funded in part by the U.S. Department of Labor to develop a program to train workers for jobs in the region's emerging "green" technology manufacturing and renewable energy industries; Blue Ridge Community College, Dabney S. Lancaster Community College and Lord Fairfax Community College are partners in the SVEP.
