Emily Maxwell is the Associate Director, Northeast Regional Center & Diversity and Inclusion and works from the Northeast Regional Center with our affiliates and partners in Connecticut, New York, Rhode Island, and New Jersey. In addition to joint advocacy with our affiliates at the federal and state level on mission-critical issues including global warming and safeguarding wildlife and natural areas, Emily helps lead collaborations with our affiliates on state and regional projects.
Emily is a former Doris Duke Conservation Fellow who has served as a Program Director at Partnerships for Parks in New York, Vermont Public Interest Research Group's Field Director, coordinator of a community greening and environmental education initiative in Philadelphia, and founder of an organization dedicated to protecting community gardens in New York City.
Emily is co-author of Building Capacity Through Diversity, a report that explores building the efficacy of the environmental movement through diverse partnerships. She has a B.A. in Urban Studies from the New School for Social Research and an M.S. in Natural Resources Policy from University of Michigan.
Emily is currently a member of the adjunct faculty of Lesley University in Boston, MA where she teaches a course called "Visioning Sustainable Cities" in the Urban Environmental Leadership Masters Program at Lesley University in Boston this fall.
