Orangutan Pencil Pal

This fuzzy orangutan will keep you company when you do your homework.

  • Tan felt
  • Yard of tan "Fun Fur" (available at most craft stores)
  • Craft glue
  • 2 googly eyes
  • Black marker
  • 2 orange pipe cleaners
  • Orange pom-pom
  • Scissors
  • Yard of orange yarn
Make the Arms and Legs

Twist the two pipe cleaners together in the middle. Then twist them together again about an inch above and an inch below the center twist to make arms and legs.

Make the Body

Twist the two kinds of yarn together. Wrap the yarns around the center of the pipe cleaners to make the orangutan's body. Glue the pom-pom to the top of the body.

Add Ears, Eyes, and Mouth

Cut ears and mouth out of felt. Draw mouth (as shown). Glue the ears, mouth, and googly eyes onto the head.

Bend Pipe Cleaners

Bend tops and bottoms of pipe cleaners to look like arms and legs.
