What You Need:

  • Empty round oatmeal container
  • Black and red craft foam
  • Craft glue
  • Pair of wiggle eyes
  • Ribbon
  • String or elastic cord (available at craft stores)
  • Hole punch
  • Scissors

What You Do:

  1. Remove the lid and bottom from the oatmeal container.
  2. Cut a piece of black craft foam large enough to cover the outside of the container. Wrap it around the container and glue it in place.
  3. For the wings: Cut a 9" circle from the red craft foam. Cut the circle in half and glue each piece to the container, as shown. Cut small black craft-foam circles and glue on to make spots.
  4. For the head: Cut a half-circle from black craft foam about 4" wide and glue it to the top of the container, as shown. Glue on the wiggle eyes.
  5. Cut the ribbon into strips about 24" long and glue them inside the bottom end of the container.
  6. To hang your windsock: Punch four evenly spaced holes around the top of the container. At each hole, thread and knot a piece of string or elastic cord. Then tie the loose ends together in a knot at the top.
