Glassy Gifts

Use any type of colorful, thin paper, such as tissue paper or party napkins with a design on them. The thinner the paper, the more transparent it will be on the glass.

Colorful jar craft

What You Do:

  1. Wash and dry a glass container, such as a jar, bottle, or drinking glass.
  2. Cut or tear thin paper or napkins into 2- to 3-inch squares. When using napkins, peel off the back layers so you're working with just the top layer with the design on it.
  3. Mix about three tablespoons of all-purpose white glue and three tablespoons of water in a small container. Stir with a paintbrush until smooth.
  4. Brush some of the glue mixture onto the outside of the glass container. Stick the paper on the glue and then brush more glue on top of it. Keep adding glue and paper until all of the glass is decorated and all of the paper is covered with glue.
  5. Let paper dry completely. For an extra-shiny finish, add a layer or two of Mod Podge® Gloss Lustre. Make sure the first layer is dry before adding the next one.
  6. When everything is dry, tie a ribbon around the container, if you like.

Your mom can use her new gift to hold pens, pencils, cooking utensils, flowers, or paintbrushes.
