Fancy Flakes

'Tis the season to be... making snowflakes! Here are some you can cut out and hang up, or give as gifts.

Snowflakes craft

What You Need:

  • paper (plain white or glittery wrapping paper)
  • ruler
  • scissors
  • pencil
  • dental floss or thin string
  • glue stick or tape
  • ribbon

 

What You Do: Snowflakes craft2

1. Begin with a piece of paper that's 6 inches by 10 inches.

2. Start at the short end and fold the paper up one inch. Continue folding the rest of the paper into one-inch pleats, like a fan. (A). Be sure to keep the edges even.

3. Draw or trace a pattern on your folded paper.

4. Cut out the center notches of the pattern. Tie a piece of floss or string where shown.Snowflakes craft3

5. Cut along the solid lines of the pattern (B).

6. Pull the pleats apart and glue or tape the ends together as shown in (C).

7. Add some ribbon for hanging your snowflake.
