Bubbles and Butterflies!

Head outdoors and look for colors that shimmer like butterfly wings. You can start with these ideas and maybe find some others on your own.

  1. Blow bubbles in a sunny spot. See the swirling colors on each bubble? In this case, thin layers of the bubble solution scatter the light.
  2. Look for a rain puddle with a layer of oil on top.
  3. Find insects such as these beetles: dogbane, Japanese, metallic wood-boring
  4. Discover the feathers of hummingbirds, starlings, pigeons, and peacocks.
  5. See the insides of certain seashells such as abalone.
