More than 100 years ago, a Vermont farmer named Wilson Bentley set out to look at snowflakes through a new invention called a "camera." He had to kept the snowflake frozen without freezing the camera. Through patience and hard work, "Snowflake" Bentley made thousands of images of these natural beauties. He figured out that no two snowflakes are alike and that each is beautiful in its own way. Mary Azarian illustrates this true story with breathtaking woodcuts. The book won the top award for children’s book illustrations, the Caldecott Medal, in 1999.
