Book cover for Stories in Stone

Nearly everywhere people have been, they've left behind pictures on rock. The pictures tell stories from long-ago—so long ago, most of the stories have been forgotten. You can see some of these pictures in this month's Ranger Rick. This book goes more in-depth on one set of pictures, found on the canyon walls of the Coso Range in California Mojave Desert . This is the largest group of rock art in the Western Hemisphere , and a good way to find out about rock art in general. Well written text and clear photos tell a good story.
