Ranger Rick Art Guidelines

Thank you for inquiring about freelance illustration in Ranger Rick magazine. Three to five art assignments are commissioned for each issue of the magazine. We use highly professional illustration in a variety of styles in full-color.

Rates are flexible, depending on the nature of the assignment and the artist's style. Our assignments range from $200.00 for a simple spot drawing to $2,500.00 for a complex color spread.

We use humorous, as well as realistic drawings of wildlife and children. Close attention is paid to accuracy. Even stylized or humorous illustration work must be based on the real creature. Most of our assignments involve wildlife subjects, but some also require an ability to draw people, especially children.

Since we have a small staff, we do not have time for personal interviews. We are happy to review printed tear sheets, photocopies, or slides. Please do not send original artwork. Samples can be returned, but we would appreciate any extras which can be added to our files for future reference.
