Meet Ranger Rick!

Ranger Rick

Ranger Rick is the leader of a small group of animals living in Deep Green Wood. He is a very wise and clever raccoon, and the true hero of the comic called "Ranger Rick's Adventures." And of course, the magazine, Ranger Rick, is named after him. It was first published in January 1967—as Ranger Rick's Nature Magazine.

Rick and his friends come across many problems in their wanderings around the world, such as people polluting streams or harming wildlife. But Rick--or Boomer Badger, Scarlett Fox, or maybe one of the other animals--always comes up with a way to solve them! And, in no time, he and the gang have saved the day!

Rick and his friends tackle many threats to wildlife and the environment. They get up close to nature and encourage kids to do the same. For instance, past Ranger Rick magazines featured these "Adventures":

February 2012: Monk Seal Rescue

December/January 2012 - Happy Green Holidays

November 2011 - Focus on Ferrets

October 2011 - Crow "Murder" Mystery

September 2011 - Sand Mountain Blues
