Bubble Fun
What You Need:
- 1/4 cup liquid dishwashing detergent
- 3/4 cup cold water
- 5 drops of glycerin (available at most drugstores)
- Pipe cleaners or metal clothes hangers
What to Do:
- Mix the detergent, water and glycerin gently.
- Use pipe cleaners to create a wand for making bubbles. Have your child dip the wand into the solution and blow gently. Very young children may have trouble blowing, so try making larger wands that can be waved in the air. Use an unfastened metal coat hanger for this.
To Make Tiny Bubbles:
Try dipping a fly swatter in the bubble solution and waving it to make lots of tiny bubbles.
To Make Huge Bubbles:
Make a larger quantity of the bubble mixture using the same proportions of ingredients. Fill the bottom of a plastic kiddy pool and use a hula-hoop for the wand. A fun idea is to place a stone or brick in the middle of the pool for your child to stand on. Then someone else can lift up the hula-hoop to encase your child in a giant bubble. If the bubble is not holding well, try adding a little more detergent or glycerin.
