"I Saw a Spider"

I saw a spider
Out in my backyard.
I counted her legs,
And she had eight.
I watched her working
With tiny, silk strings
To build a web across my gate.

The spider waited
Beside her new web
To catch an insect
That she could eat.
She trapped a fat fly
To have for dinner.
Then the spider’s day was complete!
