Alabama/Mississippi Gulf Policy Specialist
Gulf Restoration Campaign
Jill Mastrototaro is the Alabama/Mississippi Gulf Policy Specialist for NWF’s Gulf of Mexico Restoration Campaign. As the region recovers from the 2010 BP oil disaster, she works across those states to ensure meaningful restoration of Gulf lands, waters, fisheries, and the communities that depend on them. By emphasizing the environment-economy link, she leverages diverse coalitions to ensure that local, state, and federal decision-makers prioritize environmental restoration in all recovery efforts.
Before joining NWF in 2013, Jill directed and managed the Sierra Club’s regional response to the BP oil disaster while simultaneously working as a field organizing manager on environmental justice and energy campaigns with staff and volunteers across five states.
Her love for the Gulf Coast began as a community outreach director with the Lake Pontchartrain Basin Foundation (Louisiana). As a co-founder and current board member of the Land Trust for Louisiana, she has helped protected over 3,000 acres of imperiled lands and river corridors across the state.
A New England native, Jill holds a Master’s degree in Environmental Policy from the State University of New York (SUNY) College of Environmental Science and Forestry and a B.S. in Environmental Science from the University of Rochester.
