I contribute to several programs in the Education Department.
- I am part of the Eco-Schools USA team. Eco-Schools is an international program for which NWF is the U.S. host - I work on content for the website, which provides schools with all the information they need to follow a series of steps and become a certified Eco-School.
- I work on Ranger Rick magazine, for which I write the monthly Ranger Rick Educator’s Guide, regular “Be Out There” columns that engage readers in seasonal outdoor activities, and some feature stories on a variety of topics related to wildlife and nature.
- In addition to the Ranger Rick column, I provide other writing support for the “Be Out There” program as well.
I have had some terrific experiences during my time with NWF. One of the highlights was biking across Iowa with a team from NWF in the summer of 2007. Our team goal was to raise awareness about global warming, but I also had a chance to interview kids on the ride for Ranger Rick. More about that adventure here: Ranger Rick rides RAGBRAI.
