Scotts Songbird Selections Donates $50,000 to National Wildlife Federation Oil Spill Cleanup Efforts
Matching Donation Challenge Issued to Americans
Scotts® Songbird Selections® Brand Wild Bird Food today announced it is donating $50,000 to the National Wildlife Federation's Gulf Oil Spill Restoration Fund, and is asking Americans to contribute to this cause. Scotts Songbird Selections will also contribute a dollar for dollar match up to an additional $50,000 for all donations made through scottswildbirdfood.com. National Wildlife Federation is calling on Americans to participate in the challenge. The funds will be used for National Wildlife Federation’s emergency wildlife surveillance and restoration of wild habitats in the Gulf Coast.
"Wild birds are an important part of our environment and we all need to do our part to conserve and protect them," said Mike Sutterer, vice president Outdoor Living for The Scotts Miracle-Gro Company. "That's why we're helping the NWF in the Gulf and challenging everyone who cares about birds to do the same."
"We sincerely appreciate the support Scotts Songbird Selections is providing our efforts to protect wildlife in the Gulf," said Jaime Matyas, executive VP and chief operating officer of the National Wildlife Federation. "It is imperative that we maintain a sustained and significant effort to protect and restore the Gulf's wildlife and habitats in response to this devastating oil spill."
Beyond this donation, Scotts Songbird Selections is asking consumers to spread word about this cause.
