On August 7, the Alabama Wildlife Federation (AWF) hosted its annual meeting and also its 8th annual Youth Fishing Rodeo at Lanark in Millbrook, AL.  Lanark is headquarters for the Alabama Wildlife Federation and home of the Alabama Nature Center.

Attendees at the annual meeting included the SERC’s Regional Executive Director John Hammond and Regional Representative Ron Warnken who manages NWF’s affiliate partnership with AWF.

The rodeo was open to youth age 15 and under.  Each young angler received a t-shirt and was allowed to take home five catfish, with unlimited catch and release fishing.  The AWF Youth Fishing Rodeo is designed to provide Alabama’s youth with a chance to experience the outdoors and learn about fishing.  Ideally, this experience will develop into a lifelong love of exploring nature and the outside world, and provide families with opportunities to share fun and quality time together.
