Larry Schweiger’s Last Chance: Preserving Life on Earth Wins Next Generation Indie Book Award
NWF president and CEO wins grand prize in non-fiction category
The Next Generation Indie Book Awards has awarded National Wildlife Federation President and CEO Larry Schweiger their grand prize award for his book Last Chance: Preserving Life on Earth. Schweiger’s book also took home the top prize in the category of Science/Nature/Environment.
Published in 2009, Last Chance breaks down the science behind global climate change and offers practical solutions and actions to avert the worst consequences of global warming.
Written not only from the perspective of a conservation leader but also as an outdoor lover and a parent, Last Chance describes the causes of global warming and its effects on our wildlife, ecosystems, and human life as we know it.
“My motivation for writing this book was to raise awareness of the threat of climate change and to inspire people to take action,” said Schweiger. “I remain committed to these goals and share this award with everyone out there keeping up the fight.”
“The solution to our climate crisis seems simple. Repower America with wind and solar. End our dependence on foreign oil. A stronger economy. So why are we still stuck with dirty and expensive energy? Because big oil spends hundreds of millions of dollars to block clean energy. Lobbyists, ads, even scandals. All to increase their profits, while America suffers. Breaking big oil’s lock on our government, now that’s change. We’re the American people and we approve this message.”
The Next Generation Indie Book Awards is the largest not-for-profit book awards program for indie authors and independent publishers worldwide. The Indie Book Awards program was established by the Independent Book Publishing Professionals Group to recognize and honor the best independently published books of the year.
