NWF’s Ranger Rick Magazine Awarded K-5 Periodical of the Year
Association of Educational Publishers Honors Beloved National Wildlife Federation Publication
For the second year in a row National Wildlife Federation’s Ranger Rick magazine was awarded Periodical of the Year by the Association of Educational Publishers (AEP) in the K-5 age category.
Ranger Rick, a wildlife education magazine, has been published by National Wildlife Federation since 1967. Ranger Rick (for ages 7-14) and two of National Wildlife Federation’s other children’s publications, Your Big Backyard (ages 4-7) and Just For Fun (packed with puzzles for ages 7-14), took home a total of nine awards for outstanding stories, visual art and photographs, and best whole publication design.

The AEP’s annual Distinguished Achievement Awards (DAA) honor the year's top educational materials in four categories that are additionally divided by grade level: Curriculum, Periodicals, Professional Development, and Technology & New Media.

Our young readers tell us they love the magazine,” said Mary Dalheim, Editorial Director of National Wildlife Federation Children's Publications. “It’s so satisfying to know that the National Wildlife Federation can consistently provide issues packed with world-class wildlife photos and amazing animal stories that help kids get an intimate view into the world of wildlife.”
