Julie Sibbing

Julie has been with NWF since 2000.  She directs NWF's efforts to address global warming and wildlife conservation on agricultural landscapes. 

Her work includes promoting sustainable, low carbon bioenergy; advocating for full funding and improved implementation of USDA conservation and energy programs; and advancing improved carbon sequestration on agricultural lands as part of comprehensive efforts to address global warming.  A current focus of her work is advancing opportunities within global warming legislation for agricultural lands to store and hold carbon that not only helps address global warming, but also improves and protects wildlife habitat.

Julie has worked extensively for the last three years on promotion of sustainable, low carbon biofuels/bioenergy, with a special focus on Implications for wildlife.  She developed the framework and successfully advocated for inclusion of an incentive program, the Biomass Crop Assistance Program, in the 2008 Farm Bill to help farmers begin to grow next generation energy crops.  She currently serves on the Council for Sustainable Biofuels Production, a multi-stakeholder initiative to develop a sustainability certification system for next generation biofuels. 

Prior to expanding her work in agriculture and climate policy, Julie worked on wetlands policy for 13 years and has published numerous articles and reports on wetlands issues. 
 
Julie says that her favorite part of the job is getting to work with so many dedicated and talented co-workers and NWF affiliate representatives.  "We really do have the "dream team" needed to address global warming and protect wildlife for our children's future."
