IN 1995, THE GRAY WOLF was reintroduced to Yellowstone National Park, which remains the best place in the Lower 48 to view these predators in the wild. Visiting the park’s Lamar Valley last winter, Eilish Palmer got a lucky break when a boisterous crowd of photographers abruptly left her spot along a road just before these yearling littermates showed up and greeted one another. “They gave me a window into their family bond,” says Palmer, who captured the wolves’ behavior with her camera. “I felt incredibly blessed and grateful.”
