WHAT IS THIS? It's a mantis shrimp. Measuring up to a ten inches long, this crustacean lives in a burrow, where it rests in wait for prey. When a fish or other critter happens by, the mantis shrimp darts out and catches the unsuspecting prey with its formidable claws, which are shaped like jackknives.
