Rainbows, mountains, elk. What more could you want?

LYDIA DOTTO WAS SPENDING SEVERAL DAYS in the Canadian Rockies and was frustrated by persistent rain. As she was looking for photo opportunities in Jasper National Park, she came upon this scene unfolding in the warm late afternoon light. The Ontario photographer says, “The rain had delivered a remarkable double rainbow against the backdrop of the mountains. The storm clouds overhead added drama to the scene and, to cap it off, a male elk with full antlers was strategically located in front of it all. I was astonished at the miraculous timing that allowed me to be in this place at this time.” She used a Canon Digital Rebel EF-S with a 17-85mm lens.
