Shedding new light on a common plant

ILLINOIS PHOTOGRAPHER MAUREEN ZWIER WAS IN HER BACKYARD in Lombard when she noticed the light on this sunflower. The afternoon sun served as a backlight and the giant leaves as background. “My goal in capturing this image was to take a common plant and photograph it from a unique perspective,” she says. Zwier used a Nikon D200 with a 200mm lens.
