Pro photographer Cathy Illg was shooting last year in Redwood National Park, California, when these maple leaves caught her eye. “Other photographers were captivated by the blooming rhododendrons, but I was looking for something more subtle,” the Colorado resident says. She used a Canon 1D Mark III and a 28-135mm lens.
