Owl, Grand Teton National Park

While at Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming, one late fall day, pro photographer Dave Bouton noticed this owl striking some prey it spotted on the ground. “The amazing thing was that, while this was a very large bird, the owl made no sound as it passed within 25-30 feet of me,” the North Carolina resident writes. “Fortunately, it returned to this tree after the meal, allowing for this shot.” Bouton used a Nikon D2x and a 200-400mm lens.
