Photo of the Week: Snake River in Winter

Under a dramatic sky, an icy wonderland

Snake River in winter, photographed by Brett Deacon

WINTER CAN PROVIDE GREAT IMAGES, BUT YOU NEED to be out there to get them. Brett Deacon was. The Wyoming photographer stopped by a nearly frozen Snake River in Grand Teton National Park. “Wispy clouds, soft winter sunlight, animal tracks along the river’s edge and newly fallen snow lent a mystical feel to the tranquil scene,” he writes. Deacon used a Sony α900, a 24-70mm lens and a tripod.
