Piotr Naskrecki found this stag beetle during a biological survey of the Nakanai Mountains, a remote rainforest on the island of New Britain in Papua New Guinea. This particular species is one of about 1,200 stag beetle species and can grow up to four inches in length. The professional photographer and scientist used a Canon 1D Mark II and a 16-35mm lens.
