Photo of the Week: Summer Swim

penguins

The chinstrap penguins’ habitat spans the Southern Ocean, including northern Antarctic. These penguins live in large colonies, and during the onset of Austral summer they breed on Antarctica’s Peninsula and coastal islands. This is one of a few penguin species with populations that are abundant and expanding, potentially because of the decline of some whale species that prey on penguins . New York-based photographers Yva Momatiuk and John Eastcott captured these chinstrap penguins diving off icebergs to catch fish and krill using a Canon EOS 5D.
