Photo of the Week: Hitching a Ride

A late winter blizzard in Yellowstone National Park resulted in snowfall so deep that this young grizzly cub had a tough time trekking through it. For easier travel through the snow drifts, the cub would climb on and ride along with its mom. According to photographer James Yule, this sow was seen on many occasions with the cub on her back. The Wyoming resident used a Canon EOS-7D camera and an 800mm lens.
