Be Out There: A National Summit and Workshops on Children and the Outdoors
Join the National Wildlife Federation on Saturday, April 10, 2010 in Houston, TX at the JW Marriott Houston Hotel in a national summit to advance a national policy agenda to connect children with the outdoors. The summit will highlight leading state and federal policy solutions to the problem of children’s declining contact with nature.
The summit will feature Deputy Surgeon General Dr. David Rutstein, Texas Representative Carol Alvarado, NWF President & CEO Larry Schweiger, and video messages from Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar, Kansas Governor Mark Parkinson, and Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley. There will also be a panel discussion entitled, "New Partners and Innovative Strategies to Address the Indoor Childhood," featuring Dr. Sandra Stenmark of Kaiser Permanente, Dr. Nina Roberts of San Francisco State University, and Margo Pedroso of Safe Routes to School National Partnership.
