Banana Apple Pancakes
Put a fruity twist on classic pancakes.
Materials
  • ½ cup freshly grated apple
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 mashed banana
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup flour
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 mixing bowls
Steps
Step 1
Make Pancake Batter
  • In one bowl, mix the egg, buttermilk and oil. In the second bowl, blend the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • Now pour the dry ingredients into the first bowl and stir until blended. It's OK for the batter to be somewhat lumpy. Fold in the apple and banana.
Step 2
Cook Pancakes

Melt some butter or margarine in a pan or griddle. (The secret to making pancakes is to get the griddle hot enough without burning the grease.) Once the pan is hot, add a few spoons full of batter. Flip the pancakes when bubbles start to appear on top.

Step 3
Serve Pancakes

Serve with butter and warmed maple syrup.

Makes 10–12 pancakes.
