The Campus Climate Challenge Program

Campus Climate Champions

The stakes are high, the challenge is critical, and the need for leadership has never been greater. Our response to global warming over the next decade will affect temperatures for centuries and sea level for millennia. For species pushed to extinction by climate change, the effects will be permanent. With the future in the balance, how will your campus respond to global warming?

If your campus is committed to tackling global warming, we invite you the National Wildlife Federation’s Campus Climate Champion Program. Campus Climate Champions model the solutions to global warming by reducing net greenhouse gas emissions 30% by 2020, averaging 2-3% each year (on track to exceed 80% cuts by 2050). As they work to reduce their own footprints, leading campuses reach out to peer institutions and surrounding communities, providing the tools, expertise, and encouragement to help them achieve their emissions targets. Finally, Champions inspire and prepare students to lead careers in all fields that foster sustainability. We must empower tomorrow’s architects, engineers, educators, journalists, policy-makers, and scientists to contribute to a thriving, green, and just energy future.

Become a Champion

By joining NWF’s Campus Climate Champion Program, your campus will join a network of colleges and universities that are committed to catalyzing climate action. NWF assists Champions by providing resources, funding opportunities, and personal support from our staff.

Complete the Champion Program application to register the desire and willingness of your campus to make Championship a priority. Climate Champions take steps to reduce their climate footprints and promote global warming solutions to students, peer institutions, and surrounding communities.
