Urban Sustainable Design Workshop
The Foresight Design Initiative is offering a summer workshop called the Urban Sustainable Design Studio. The workshop is designed to empower participants to become better sustainable innovators through a unique, experiential learning program. Through an intensive mix of weekly readings, field trips, guest speakers, and hands-on project work, attendees will learn about the sector and delve into the innovation process. Graduates of the program will leave with a deeper understanding of sustainability, the potential of design to analyze and address systemic issues, and the many opportunities for, and barriers to, influencing change. International Interdisciplinary Conference on the Environment

1,000 young people from across the country will come together in Washington DC for the fifth annual Campus Progress National Conference -- inspiring speeches, panels, performances, and interactive discussions on the issues that matter most to them. Speakers at this conference in past years have included Barack Obama, Bill Clinton, Nancy Pelosi, John Lewis, Julian Bond, Majora Carter, Samantha Power, Ryan Gosling, and, of course, Fat Joe. Student Training for Environmental Protection
The George Mason University Student Training for Environmental Protection Summer Program is a weeklong course facilitated by some of the best youth organizers in the U.S. and Puerto Rico. During the week participants will learn how to create or extend strong and successful groups that will be able to run effective environmental campaigns on their campuses and communities. The Upper Midwest Association for Campus Sustainability is hosting free workshops on writing a climate action plan for your school at four locations throughout the upper Midwest in July. For more details and to register, go to www.umacs.org. Join representatives from other Midwest colleges and universities to learn how to reduce greenhouse gas emissions on your campus. We will have a representative from the National Wildlife Federation’s Campus Ecology Program as well as information from schools in different stages of planning for the American College and University Presidents Climate Commitment.
