	Learn how to Frogwatch

Step One: Register your site online
Become a volunteer! Fill out an online sign up form. In order to contribute data to Frogwatch USA, you must first register your site and yourself as an observer. Upon registering you will receive a Frogwatch USA Packet that will assist you with getting started!

Step Two: Choose one or more wetland sites
Learn which kind of wetlands in your neighborhood would be good to monitor for frogs and toads.

Step Three: Learn about Frogs and Toads in your local area
Find out which frogs and toads are in your local area by reviewing a field guide or the list on the Frogwatch USA website. By purchasing an audiotape or CD, or borrowing one from your local library, you can learn to identify the calls of the frogs and toads in your local area.

Step Four: Learn the Frogwatch USA Monitoring Protocol
Read detailed instructions on how and when to monitor frogs and toads, then make sure that you have the necessary equipment.

Step Five: Print out data sheets
Obtain hard copies of the Frogwatch USA data sheet so you can record your observations while monitoring your site. When you sign up as a Frogwatch USA volunteer, these datasheets are available online.

Step Six: Go Frogwatching!
It is up to you how often your site is monitored. Your data would be most useful if you could monitor at least twice a week throughout the breeding season.

Step Seven: Submit your observations online
If you cannot enter your data online, please send your data sheets via US mail to Frogwatch USA. Please report all your data. It is also important to report if you do not observe any frogs or toads calling during one or more of your nightly monitorings.
