Make the Caterpillar
Use the
pattern
to cut out the following shapes out of felt:
1 large black rectangle
2 small black rectangles
1 thin black strip for antennae
2 small yellow rectangles
2 small white rectangles
Fold the “antennae” strip into the letter “V” and glue the bottom of the “V” on one end of the large black rectangle. Then glue the small rectangles onto the large rectangle so they make a yellow, white, black, striped pattern.
Glue two googly eyes below the antennae on both sides of the large rectangle. You now have a caterpillar.
Make the Butterfly
Use the
pattern
to cut the following shapes out of felt:
1 large black butterfly
1 small orange butterfly
Glue the small orange butterfly on top of the large black butterfly.
Stick a piece of Velcro on each of the black stripes on the caterpillar. Then place the caterpillar in the center of the orange butterfly (as shown). Press the butterfly and the caterpillar together so that the other side of the Velcro stays stuck to the orange felt.
Make the Chrysalis
Use the pattern to cut the following shape out of felt:
1 large green butterfly
Glue the green butterfly shape to the back of the black butterfly.
Stick a piece of Velcro on the top and bottom of the black portion of the butterfly’s left wing. (See
pattern
.)
Fold the butterfly’s right wing over the caterpillar. Then fold over the butterfly’s left wing. Press together so the other side of the sticky Velcro stays stuck to the green felt.
Cut a small hole in the butterfly’s wings just above the caterpillar’s head. Thread the ribbon or yarn through the hole so that you can hang Munchie’s chrysalis
