Draw a picture on paper with markers.

For the parts that you want to get blurry, use washable markers.

For any parts you want to stay more crisp, use permanent markers.

When you color things in, it makes the rain art more fun because there is more ink to spread. But leave some of the paper without marker so the ink has a place to run.

Put your art out in a light rain.

Put rocks on the corners of your papers if there is any wind.

The rain will now splatter on your art, and start the ink running across the paper.

In a very light rain, it might take 15 minutes for the rain to do its work, but keep monitoring your art. If you like the effect after a few minutes, bring it back under cover.

Dry your rain art on a towel.

As it dries, the ink may run a little bit more and the paper may be a bit crinkly. If you want your paper to be flat again, press it between large books after the paper is completely dry.
