"Hello, Little Red Sea Star"
Hello, little red sea star.
I can reach you where you are,
In a rocky ocean pool,
Full of water clear and cool.
Oh, I want to touch your skin,
So I dip my hand right in.
Your skin that’s so rough and tough
Keeps you safe from scary stuff,
Like seagulls, crabs, and the fish
Who think you’re a tasty dish.
You don’t feel like lunch to me.
You’re hard like bark that’s on a tree.
When I try to pick you up
I find you are tightly stuck.
Five strong arms hold on like glue.
Crashing waves cannot move you.
Sea star, do you plan to stay
Till I come back again to play?
