Seedy Cardinal

What you need:

  • bag of cranberries
  • 3-4 carrots
  • 3-4 handfuls of sunflower seeds
  • 8 walnuts, pecans or other nuts in their shells
  • small paper nut cup

  • What you do:

If it's a snowy day, draw the outline of a cardinal in the snow. Otherwise, use pieces of old string or yarn to make an outline on the ground.

Fill in the crest, body, and tail areas with cranberries.

Fill a nut cup with sunflower seeds and place it where the cardinal?s eyes should be. Then fill in the surrounding facial area with sunflower seeds (see photo).

Create an orange beak with pieces of carrot (as shown).

Use four nuts to shape each leg and foot (as shown).

If you used yarn or string to outline the bird, remove that now.
