SHELL-ebrate Spring

Here's a fun way to recycle leftover Easter eggs!

What You Need:

  • clay flower pot
  • acrylic paints
  • paintbrushes
  • eggs, hard-boiled and dyed
  • clear-drying glue
  • small container, such as an old can or jar
  • pencil
  • nontoxic clear craft glaze or finish (optional)
  • What You Do:

Paint the flower pot any color you want and let paint dry.
Carefully peel the eggshells and crush them into different-sized bits.
Lightly draw the outline of a simple design, such as a butterfly or flower, on the pot. Or cover the entire pot with eggshells. If you want, you can paint part of the design, such as the butterfly's body, as shown.
Pour some glue into a small container. Use a paintbrush to spread the glue on your design. Then gently press the eggshell bits on the wet glue until the design is filled in.
When the glue is dry, you can paint over the whole pot with clear craft glaze or finish, if you want. Now put some soil and a plant in your pot. You can give your creation away or enjoy it on your windowsill.
