Skunk Creek, Peoria, AZ
Not just the flowers of this beautiful mallow, but also their seed heads are attractive, almost poppy like. Last year fewer than a handful of these mallows grew, let alone blossomed. This spring they have been numerous, and many splendid. But now, without rain since January, they are dying off, buds still unopened. Those that managed to bloom, like this specimen did, had a chance to propagate their seeds.
Cropped and brightened a little (the day was very overcast and the picture slightly underexposed).
